Together, we partner with the congregation to discover the essential values of the congregation and then assist the leadership in developing a concrete plan of action for the implementation of ministries and programs that support the Mission, Vision and Values of the congregation. Outside consultation is effective because it provides a non-biased, outside perspective on the current functioning of the congregation and specific strategies for attaining the congregations stated mission. Crucial to the success of the collaboration between congregation and consultant is a assessment phase so that all parties have a clear understanding of the goals, scope and expected outcome of the project.
Assessment is vital because it provides the consultant with a through understanding of the situation and issues within the congregation. This is usually accomplished through conversation with the pastor and a few key leaders of the congregation prior to the consultation phase. Responsibilities and expectations will be discussed and a mutually agreeable timeline will be created.
Specific time is spent examining the mission of the congregation, the nature of this new generation of believers and ministries and programs are tailored to speak the timeless Good News of Jesus in a context that can be heard, received and assimilated into the lives of 21st century seekers.
Consultations generally consist of a weekend seminar (Friday evening - Saturday lunch) with key leaders of the congregation, one on one appointments with the pastor & council and six to twelve months of follow up and evaluation. Periodic check-in and evaluation is built into the process so that outcomes can be modified as new information comes to light. Other consultation services are also offered on an as needed basis. A written proposal is always offered before any consultation is begun All materials needed (including workbooks) are provided. Power point slides and notes are also included in the consultation seminar |
